The Front Walk is Finished!

We have finished the front walk. I think it turned out very well. Andy worked very hard to get everything straight and level. It is nice to have something to walk on that doesn't result in us tracking dirt or mud in the house. When we bought the house it had a concrete walk that had cracked and sunk, and every time it rained, it was covered with mud.

Also - Little Mama, the worst dog in the world, managed to find and rip up a 10 lb bag of flour in our computer room. See the picture below. She is the spawn of the devil. For the life of me I can't figure out where that flour came from. It wasn't ours.

Last, but not least, I posted pictures of our new front porch lights. The others were rejected by the historic commission and we had to exchange them for these. I don't like these as well, but they are older and are more historically accurate.

evil dog . . . grrr

All the bricks have been laid, including the ones that had to be cut at the edges. Mortar / sand mix filled in on about half.

Finished adding sand / mortar mix - starting to water it down.

Close up of the bricks with the wet mortar on them - ugly brown color

Halfway done watering

Andy watering ...

All the sand / mortar has been added and watered. Just waiting for it to dry.

My shoes got a little dusty in the process.

The finished product. Most of the film on the bricks will wear off and they will look red again after a while. I might go after them with a wire brush.
