Trip to Asheville

Andy and I went to Asheville this weekend for a long weekend getaway. We had a really good time. We stayed in a very nice little studio apartment that was cozy and peaceful and a bargain at $90 a night. Friday we settled in and went downtown. We wandered around the shops and had dinner at Doc Chey's, one of the places I loved to go in Atlanta, but we don't have here in Nashville. It was as good as I remembered.

Saturday we went to the Biltmore and did the regular house tour as well as the south wing behind-the-scenes tour. I thought this was neat because we got to go to the roof, and we got to see some of the unrestored rooms (makes me feel a little better about the state of our house). Then we had afternoon tea at the Inn on the Biltmore Estate, came back and napped, and then went on the ghost tour of downtown Asheville. It was pretty good but not as good as the ones in Key West and New Orleans.

Sunday we went to the Grove Park Inn for brunch. It was a shocking $40 a person but worth it. We gorged ourselves in a completely embarrassing way. Sunday afternoon we spent wandering around downtown Asheville, and Sunday night we had dinner at the Flying Frog Cafe. Andy wasn't feeling well - he said he thought he had a virus. I thought it might have something to do with the amazing quantity of food we ate at brunch, followed by three beers - but what do I know?

We came back Monday morning and arrived to all kinds of headaches with the house and the painters, and I had an exam tonight, so homecoming was less than desirable. I'm not sure if the lesson here is not to go on vacation, or not to come home.

See our pictures below. I thought this was easier than emailing.
